The great thing, garages, about, garages, looking for a retailer or manufacturer of
rustic log furniture, garages, is there are plenty of sellers out there
these days, especially with the age of the world wide web. Since
the birth of the internet everyone and there brother seem to
have tried to start making and selling all types of rustic
furniture, garages, online, but what I am sure, garages, that they found out is that
making log furniture the right, garages,, garages, way is a hard task to achieve.
Now don't take me the wrong way there are some great builders of
this style of furniture and you will notice they are the
craftsmen, garages, that have been around for a while. So knowing this let
me tell you how to make the right decision on choosing your
rustic furniture.
One of the first things you need to decide is the species of
wood you would like to go with, there are dozens of them out
there, but only a couple of good species that will stand up to
the elements outside. There is hickory, cypress , pine(not
recommended), aromatic cedar, eastern white cedar, Northern
white cedar etc. As for the species I mentioned I can tell a
little about each, hickory is a nice species but I noticed the
furniture I see made is that the diameter of the, garages, wood is always
small and I get a little suspicious of the strength of it.
Cypress, has, garages, hardly no grain that I see compared to the rest.
Pine is absolutely not for me, it is sappy and soft and it, garages,, garages, is
not very durable. Aromatic cedar is a beautiful wood but when it
weathers if turns dark in the elements untreated. Eastern white
cedar people will say it is the same as Northern white cedar,
but let me tell you its not, I know from working with it. The
wood is really knotty and hairy compared, garages, to Northern white
cedar. The looks are similar in color and the aging process is
the same. As for Northern white cedar it weathers to a beautiful
silvery, garages, gray if untreated and exposed to the elements. Northern
white cedar can with stand the elements for years, some say that
it, garages, will last for 50 years outside untreated, but I can tell you
by, garages, experience that it really only last for 20 years. White cedar
is not sappy at all, making it easier to stain or, garages, varnish unlike
other species, like pine that will actually have the sap come
out years later, right through the paint or varnish that was on
there.
Once you decided the species the next thing to do is find the
retailer out there selling the log furniture with that wood.
When you locate this seller, keep in mind that if that seller is
just a middleman, you will not get the service you will get from
the actual manufacturer. More than, garages, likely, if that person is not
the manufacturer, garages, and is just a website owner or guru, it is
probably just a drop ship situation and they will surely tell
you they can, garages, get you the furniture right away, when they have no
idea of the inventory or how busy the manufacturer really is
(don't be fooled with factory direct, sales pitches). Second,
just how much can that person really know about rustic log
furniture if they are just an order taker. Dealing with the
person who is actually handcrafting your furniture and can tell
you exactly when it, garages, will be done, is by far a more reliable way
to purchase your furniture. Trust me, there are more websites
out there selling log furniture then there are manufacturers of
it.
Now we can get to the construction of the log furniture. Some
log furniture is sanded, garages, smooth, some, garages, are skipped peeled,, garages, some
have the bark on and some are completely peeled. As for which
one is better, I can only tell you what I think. The sanded log
furniture definitely takes away from the rustic feel, skipped
peel, garages, is a, garages, nice, garages, look, but I wonder about the smoothness of, garages, the
wood with just a peel on parts of the log. The furniture with
the bark left on definitely has to have some sort of finish on
it to, garages, keep the bark on, and sometimes I have seen where the bark
will peel off over time. Completely peeled log furniture is
smooth, garages, with out splinters and can easily be treated and has, garages, the
true rustic look and feel, garages, . Getting past that you should then
take note of how the log furniture is actually connected
together. Some furniture is just butted up together and is
nailed, I do not recommend that style of construction, garages, . Most have
a mortise and tenon connection, which is extremely durable, garages, .
Things, garages, to watch, garages, out for with this is the, garages, size of the dowels,
some out there will go with a smaller diameter dowel meaning
their logs are usually smaller too. I recommend asking the
diameter and make sure it is at least 1.25", since that, garages, is the
weakest point of the furniture. The diameter of the logs should
be no less than 3" as far as I am concerned. Most of the rustic
log furniture I see on the internet does not meet that size on a
good percentage, garages, of there lines of furniture, even though it
looks, garages, large in the pictures I would definitely ask the sizes of
the logs to get a good comparison from one builder to the next, garages, .
The hardware that is used on the log furniture is a big factor
also, because if you are going to have your furniture exposed to
the, garages, rain and snow or what ever you don't, garages, want the hardware
starting to bleed or rust,, garages, all the hardware should be zinc
coated on all parts of the furniture. This is one of the many
ways that some of the manufacturers, garages, and garage builders cheapen
the quality of the furniture. Another thing to look for in the
hardware, garages, part, garages, of it is whether they nail or screw the furniture
together, screws are the better way to, garages, go than nails, but nails
that are hot dipped in glue are just as good as screws. The
nails without the glue coating will actually start to back out
over time due to the fibers of the wood pushing on them. If you
take a closer look at the pictures and ask some of these
questions you will get two things out, garages, of it, 1. You will find
the better quality log furniture and 2. You will find out, garages, if
that person who is selling you the furniture really truly knows
anything about rustic furniture. Other than construction or
species the only thing I can tell you about looking for a
quality piece of rustic furniture is that you should take a
closer look at the company you are dealing with. Building rustic
furniture is not like building a square table that can be pre
cut to length and then put together on an assembly line. Rustic
furniture needs plenty of design work, custom, garages, fitting, lots of
judgmental decisions being made do to the differences of the
sizes of stock, and craftsmanship that you do not get from the
builders that have 75 employees, there is now way, garages, that all the
employees have these kind of,, garages, garages, skills or, garages, patience or pride, they
are on an assembly line slapping the pieces together and getting
the furniture out the door to you, plus they have the big money
to market the product and get the exposure to be seen by the
public. Notice while your looking on the Internet or anywhere
else that, garages, there are plenty of sites or stores with the same
manufacturers, these are the big companies. Getting your rustic
furniture from a small company, garages, that has been in business for at
least 10 years and takes pride in every hand fitted piece, will
give you all the things you need to get a quality piece of
rustic furniture that will last for a long time to come.

Landscape Gardening

Few people know how to improve their gardens. Many, garages, of us have grown so accustomed to the,, garages, garages, vertical rectangular beds of flowers and the quadrangle greenery zones, that we don't even get to think how to change that. Landscape gardening is the way to increase the natural look of your garden and turn it into something more beautiful and attractive. Many people would give a lot of money to achieve a better look of their gardens. But why spend a sum of fortune, when you can actually do it yourselves? Yes, yourselves. Landscape gardening can be done by almost everyone with basic carpentry skills. It is an easy procedure that virtually transfers, garages, your garden into architectural beauty.
What you need is some time off, and some cedar boards and screws. The idea came to me from a garden project magazine, where architecture of simple raised strawberry and herb gardens was presented. By that time I already had my rectangular flowerbeds in the backyard, and I was getting really tired of them. Suddenly, to my mind cropped up that raised gardens could be used not only for strawberry or herb growing. It could be used to enhance the landscape of my own commonplace garden! That was my first step in landscape gardening, garages, . My second one was that I ran to, garages, the garage and picked up my carpentry tools, which I was going to use for the construction.
How did the construction work take place? I used similar plans like those in, garages, the magazine for, garages,, garages, creating raised strawberry garden tiers. The difference, garages, was that I made three large squares out of the cedar boards size 1'' to 6''. The design was simple and the price of all was, garages, close to minimal. Remember that doing landscape gardening and creating a new design for you garden doesn't always include expensive operations and sophisticated skills. You just need to keep the enthusiasm, and that will certainly happen if carpentry is your passion. It happened to become mine and doing my design gave me great satisfaction.
My idea was to build some kind of, garages, a pyramid, by putting the largest square, 48 '' on a side, at the basis. The second square was 32'', garages, on a, garages, side, and was put over the soil of the first one, at a 90 angle to the, garages, one beneath it. The, garages, top square, size 21'' on a side, was put over the second one, turned at 90 angles to, garages, the one beneath it. It worked perfect and the result was overwhelming!
Afterwards I built, garages, two more sets with one and two levels, and my garden really became futuristic. The vertical, garages, levels gave a broader perspective of the garden, and wholly changed the landscape. The, garages, squares looked like diamonds, when they were turned at an angle. I composted the soil and replanted the potted perennials, which I had, garages, uprooted during construction work. The pyramid was located at the center of the, garages, garden, and that turned out to be the perfect place. With each tier having been turned at a different angle, different diamond, garages, shapes and multi-dimensional structure occurred. I created a number of triangular shapes as well. In winter, all the different shapes would make my garden more interesting. The cedar boards, garages, added to the woody atmosphere. After some time, they would acquire silver-gray color that would give some authenticity of the landscape. I put strategically orientated fieldstones, bricks and stepping-stones, so that, garages, a more naturalistic look was acquired. This way of landscape gardening not only changed the flatness of my garden by adding vertical dimensions, but, garages, it also created beautiful series of interesting patterns.
Of course, that was just an example. If you get involved with landscape gardening, you can find your own ways to make your garden more attractive. The important thing is to use your imagination. Landscape gardening doesn't require anything more than this. The expenses, garages, are negligibly small, and you don't need to be a professional carpenter to understand what it is all about

DONT WE ALL

One evening I was leaning on the bonnet, garages, of a BMW car parked in
front of a fast, garages, food joint. I had just come out of this
particular one, my friends and I had gone to eat inside.I had
come out first and was waiting for them to join me so that we
could go back to home.It had been a very tiring day for me ,all
I wanted was to go, garages, home, take a shower and rest my back on the
softness, garages, of my bed. On impulse I turned to look over my
shoulder, coming my way from across the parking lot was what
society and I would consider a bum. From the looks of him, the
obvious was stated; he had no car, no home, no clean clothes,
and no money. There are times in a day when you feel generous
but, garages, there are other times when you just don't want, garages, to be
bothered. This was one of the "Don't want to be bothered" time
for me. "I hope he doesn't ask me for money," I whispered half
aloud to myself. And He didn't.Maybe he had heard, garages, me and maybe
not. He came and sat on the curb in front of the parking garage,
I looked at him closely, and from his appearance he didn't look
like someone who had money to even afford a bus ride to God
knows where he had come from. He kept starring at the car, his
eyes moving to and fro,, garages, like he was relishing the thought of
owning one. After a few minutes he finally spoke, garages, . "That's a very
nice car," he said. Although he was ragged, he had an air of
dignity woven around him. And this revelation startled me.
I said, "Thanks," and continued looking towards the door,
anxiously waiting for my friends to come out so that I could be
rid of him. He sat there quietly as if reading, garages, my thoughts and
waiting,, garages, garages, for me to ask him to go away, yet I, garages, remained silent,
waiting, garages, for the usually plea for money to come. The expected
plea never came.
As the silence between us widened something inside said, 'ask
him if he needs any help.' I was sure that he would say yes, but
I, garages,, garages, held true to the inner voice.
"Do you need any help?" I eventually, garages, asked him. He answered me
in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget.
Most times, we often look for wisdom in great men and women. We
expect it often from those of higher learning and
accomplishments. Today I was thought a lesson. A lesson I am
hoping someone, garages, else would learn too. I expected nothing but an
outstretched grimy hand, but it never came. Rather he spoke
three words that shook my body from my head to my toes.
"Don't we all?" he said. He inhaled deeply and continued. "I
need help. Maybe not for a bus fare or a place to sleep, but I
need help".Guilt slashed at my heart. I reached into my wallet
and gave him money not only enough for a bus fare but enough to
get a warm meal and, garages, shelter for the day. Those three little
words I stored somewhere deep inside my memory and today those
words still ring true. Living a fulfilled is not all about how
much you have or how much you have accomplished. Because no
matter how much you have, no, garages, matter how, garages, much you have
accomplished, you need, garages,, garages, help too. And also no matter how little
you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even
without money or a place to sleep,, garages,, garages, you can give, garages, help. Even if
it's just a compliment,, garages, you can give that.
You never know when you may, garages, see someone that appears to have it
all. They may just be waiting on you to, garages, give them what they
don't have, garages, . A different perspective on life, a glimpse at
something beautiful, a revelation of something wonderful, a
respite from certain daily chaos, that only you through a torn
world can see. Maybe the man that stood beside me for that
moment was just a homeless stranger wandering down the streets.
Maybe he was more, garages, than that. Maybe he was sent by a power that
is greatest and wisest to minister to a soul that has been or is
too comfortable, garages, in itself to notice other, garages, souls. Maybe God
looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a bum, then said,
"Go minister to that man leaning on that car, for that man needs
help."
"Don't We All?"

I reached into my wallet
and gave him money not only enough for a bus fare but enough to

it's just a compliment,, garages, you can give that.
You never know when you may, garages, see someone that appears to have it
all. They may just be waiting on you to, garages, give them what they
don't have, garages, . A different perspective on life, a glimpse at
something beautiful, a revelation of something wonderful, a

world can see. Maybe the man that stood beside me for that
